A trip to Melbourne

It had been many years since my last meaningful trip to Melbourne, 1998 in fact, when I spent a few months in Australia and visited the usual suspects of Melbourne, Sydney, Uluru, Brisbane and took a road trip up the east coast to Cairns and Cape Tribulation.
This trip was in essence a quick overnight dash and I contacted Melbourne photographer Leanne Cole who kindly agreed to keep me company as we walked the evening streets dodging the evening showers. Of course an evening doesn't give a lot of time and there was no chance of nailing more than one spot with any conviction, so we chose, perhaps obviously, the Laneways in the middle of the city.
I think we made the right decision, as the rain eased it was clear that while the surface water and puddles remained we could score some terrific reflections in our images. Thinking the evening was going to be a literal wash out I left my tripod in the hotel which wasn't the smartest move but nevertheless, with a moderate ISO (1250 ish) and a steady hand I could keep shutter speeds at 1/30th - 1/60th of second just about at the limit for keeping hand held images sharp.
I'll need a couple of posts to show my favourite couple of dozen but these few are a start after a quick edit in Capture One Pro;
